* If sampling by method 5030 (not preferred) collect the sample in a 4 oz. glass jar with no headspace then cool to 4oC.
* If sampling by method 5035 (preferred) collect a 5 gram sample for low level analysis in each of 3 - 40ml glass VOA vials with Teflon lined septa then freeze the samples ASAP. For high level analysis collect a 10 gram sample in each of two preweighed 40 ml VOA vials that have 10 ml of methanol already in the vial then cool to 4oC.
1 - This does not include the volume necessary to perform MS/MSD analyses. Include additional sample (normally 3 times the quoted volume or mass) for each sample requiring an MS/MSD. This extra sample volume should always be included for at least one sample in sample sets of 5 or greater. Contact the laboratory for more information.
2 - For reporting results in dry weight a total solid analysis must be included. Be sure to collect a sample for total solids.
